You will need to continue cover through until handover from your builder as your Liability as owner of the land is not covered by your builder’s insurance which covers the contacted construction risks.
Any incidents that result in injury to others or damage to their property that occur during construction can result in you being joined in any legal action…..Lawyers do not care who pays as long as if someone does, and that could be you.
The provisos to you taking out a Landcover policy are that you are not residing on the property and that you are not building as an Owner Builder.
All Landcover policies are non-renewable contracts. The reason being is that for many owners of vacant land their circumstances frequently change. Some of our customers dispose of their land , others demolish and subdivide, and some commence building their dream home.
To ensure continuity of your insurance and to update your Landcover policy you need to reapply at any time in the month your policy expires. Simply go online to: www.landcover.com.au
Your new policy will take effect immediately and will expire on the last day of the month next year. This new policy will replace your current policy by default so that you have continuity of cover but not 2 policies at the same time.
We appreciate that for some customers, like you, this process can be an inconvenience. However, for compliance and for your security and effective payment, we believe this to be our best solution for our website.
All policies have a 21 Day Cooling off period with a full refund applicable.
